What would be a good part-time job for a future law student?

Dustin asked:

I’m currently in school working on obtaining my BA with plan of attending law school after graduation.

I currently work in a restauraunt part time because the money is good and the hours are flexable. However, my issue is that working in a restaraunt has nothing to do with my future career in the field of law.

Are there any decent paying part-time jobs that would be related to law? I would only be able to work during the evenings and weekend due to school.

Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Can a non-high school graduate attend Law school through a transferring?

SSJ4 Goku asked:

Can I attend University of Michigan even if I don’t have a high school diploma but I am currently attending community college so that I can transfer my credits to there.

Will they accept me or reject me?

Should I try and stay for 2 years and get an associates degree?

Has anyone attended Law School?

jiggywalker2008 asked:

If so, how hard is it, and what is the most challenging part about it. Does it matter what your undergraduate major is before going into law school?

Law School, Med School, other PhDs too?

_ asked:

I’m going to college in the fall as a freshman. I’ve been thinking about doing a double major in English and philosophy. I love both of these areas of study. With this double major, I would either attend law school or eventually become a professor for philosophy or English (both sort of overlap, so I’m not sure which one I’d go for). Nevertheless, I’m also very interested in psychology (overlaps with philosophy and thus with English since English overlaps with philosophy). Yet I’m also interested in psychiatry. I hear and read about the negative effects of medication and practice of psychiatry, but I’m curious. Some people do benefit from psychiatry, others don’t, so I’m not going to make final conclusions. Psychiatry blends the understanding of anatomy and psychology, and so I think a psychiatrist may be better equipped to understand any connections with regard to that. So, is it possible for me to be attend law school, med school, and get PhDs in English, philosophy and psychology?

Should I attend law school in the US or Australia?

nichelle d asked:

I’m a wanderer by nature and have recently been contemplating moving to Australia. As much as I love NY I’ve been here all my life and would love to move to a milder climate with less harsh winters. I had been considering law school school in the SF bay area but now I’ve been thinking about leaving the US and not just the east coast.

Australia (Sydney or Melbourne) seems like a wonderful alternative. My question is should I go to law school here (CA most likely) and then try to get a job in Australia? Or should I try to apply to an Australian law school as an international student? If I decide to come back to the US I could always get my LLM and then take the bar to be able to practice law in the US.

I’m just conflicted because I don’t know very much about international law programs and how difficult it would be for me to attend law school in Australia. Or what sort of qualifications I’d have to go through to be able to practice law in Australia with a J.D.

Does it matter where you attend law school?

Jay asked:

If I want to be a successful lawyer, meaning earning a lot of money, do I need to Harvard Degree?

I live in New Jersey and plan on attending a local Community College, Transferring to Rutgers-NB and applying to both rutgers law campuses. My uncle has a degree from there and he is not in a lucrative position at ALL and he still does very well. Is there some type of a trade off here, because I doubt I would graduate at the top of my law class.

Or do I just need to work hard?

Law School - Tier?

Mono asked:

I am attending law school at Loyola New Orleans this fall, a tier-3 school.

Looking at average salary medians for graduates for my school, all I can find listed is “$32,000 to $125,000″. With such a wide range, is this just numerical gamesmanship on the part of my school or is it possible to earn over $100,000 emerging from a tier-3 school such as mine?

(If there is a more specific statistic of median salary for my school I would very much appreciate it)

I’ve read thoroughly that one needs to attend a tier-1, or one of the top law schools in the country, in order to get feet in the doors of the country’s top law firms however this is not my concern.

I have no desire to get into the top law firms in the country, only to earn more than $100,000 and live happily; is it possible for anyone emerging from a tier-3 school such as mine to earn $100,000 or do I have to be in a higher-tiered school?

Thank you so much, anyone who can answer this is helping me more than I can describe!!

questions about law school, and life after law school?

PaPerBoy8907 asked:

Hi I had a few questions about law school, and life after law school, so here it is. My situation is, Im a sophomore in college and I’m determined to attend law school upon graduation, I live here in the great state of michigan, but i don’t plan on living here or going to law school here. I want to go somewhere where the weather isn’t anything like Michigan i.e. (HORRIBLE). My second initial question is, where you choose to go to law school that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll end up living wherever you went to school does it? Thanks…
