What degree should I pursue if I want to attend law school?

Meghan B asked:

As of now, I am a political science major in my freshman year of college. However, I am not enjoying my political science courses. I would also like to pursue a degree that I had the option to not go to law school, and still use that degree. I enjoy writing and history. Any suggestions?

Is a JD with an emphasis in international law a good path to actually living abroad?

AP asked:

I’m a U.S. citizen, and my ideal career involves living in a foreign country, or at least making relatively frequent international trips.

Is attending law school, and studying international law in particular, a good educational path towards achieving an international career? Or, is international law much more likely to involve living and working domestically, dealing with international issues from here?
