Law school character and fitness question help?

ShouldBeSleeping asked:

So I am a senior in college and I am in the process of applying to law schools. I hit a hitch in the road when I came to the “character and fitness” questions. I went to a university but I was suspended from the school for a year due to a conflict that got out of hand between myself and my roommate. During the time that I was off, I worked, got closer to God and decided to attend a bigger, more prestigious university. It has been three years since the incident happened and I am about to graduate and hoping to attend law school. Does anyone know how this will affect me? The questions asks “Have you ever been suspended, expelled….” I am going to be honest and answer yes but I need help with how to phrase my addendum section where I explain myself. Can anyone give me some insight, what to do, what to say???
Thanx

Law School Bound- have MANY questions! Please help?

Carlos B asked:

I’m a junior at ucsc majoring in politics. I am determined to attend law school after i graduate in 2010. I wanted to hear others’ opinions on law school and my chances of getting in. I am really interested and looking at these law schools the most: Northwestern, Georgetown, Washington Univ in St. Louis, Boston College, Boston University, UC Hastings and the University of Washington in Seattle. I am estimating i will graduate with a 3.3 gpa and a 160-165 LSAT. I am sure my personal statement will kick ass. As for experience, i have a lot of job experience in various fields. I have interned for congressmen, social work projects, city attorneys, and city mayors.

If anyone knows ANYTHING about any of the law schools i have stated, don’t hesitate to let me know any facts you may know please!!! I would also like your opinion of whether or not you think i have a chance of getting into some or all of these law schools. I know some law schools heavily weigh work experience. Let me know please!!! :)
Thanks
Oh: i have a lot of work experience, the internships i posted are separate from my actual work experience.

Do universities award scholarships for those wishing to attend law school and if so how do you apply for them?

scampy74 asked:

I am scheduled to graduate next fall with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Political Science. I have a 3.8GPA with an LSAT score of 174.

Do colleges award scholarships to those wanting to attend their law school programs (my top three choices are Michigan, Harvard, and Yale)? If so what are my chances of receiving one and what should I do to go about applying for one?
For those wondering, I did ask this question previously, however none of the information I received truely helped me so I am posting again. Thank you!

Why do I have to attend Law School to take Bar exam?

Abard2 asked:

If I can pass the Bar exam which is necessary to become an attorney, why the necessity to attend Law School if the premise is based on learning the information to pass Barr exam? I figure if I can buy the books or read from library, pass Bar exam, and save 100k from extraordianry Law School costs, why can I not take this avenue to become an attorney?
But if I read case law, does this not truly qualify to situational experience from law school? I don’t ask in the form of a rhetorical question, but simply based on logic.

Police or Law School.Word of Advice Please ?

Marbles22 asked:

I am currently a 4th year student at University of California, and want to attend law school. However, I have a very low GPA of 2.2 and haven’t taken the LSAT yet. After some research, I realized that my chances of getting into a law school is slim to non.

Therefore, I am asking for some experienced advices on whether I should join the local sheriff’s department, build some work experience, and then, apply to law schools. Is this a good career plan or am I just getting myself into something that is not possible?

I would greatly appreciate your sincere advice. Thank you.

I am a 35 married women who desperately wants to attend the law school in my area. Help?

lovoya asked:

I must attend school at night due to financial obligations. This limits my choice of school to one. However, this institution has denied me admission. Though I had a 2.6 gpa in college 13 years ago and only scored a 144 on my LSATs, I still believe I can succeed in lawschool due to my 13 years of experience as Litigation Paralegal with state and federal government agencies. Low gpa score was caused by immaturaty and lack of focus due to my mother’s mental illness and everyone knows that standardized testing is not only bias but is in no way a reflection of the level of success that can be attributed to candidates. My only hope is a personal essay that will be able to wow the admissions committee. I have no idea where to start, how to get help. Should I request an interview with an admissions committee member?
